There are various tricks to reduce compost odor. Know them and you won't hesitate to start!

  1. Add Green and Brown Materials in layers like a lasagna (first add browns)

  2. Keep the pile moist

  3. Avoid meats, dairy, or anything greasy

  4. Let it dry out (set it under the sun and add more dry items like paper or leaves)

  5. Break up Clumps

  6. Mix frequently

  7. Sprinkle compost bin with baking soda every few weeks

  8. Line the bin with brown materials first

  9. Before putting food waste in compost bin, put it in the freezer to reduce odor

  10. Use Charcoal Filters, Dry materials
